The Bitcoin move came from BTG Pactual, one of the leading investment banks in Brazil.
By posting an announcement on its Twitter account, the bank announced that it has launched a new platform that will allow its clients to invest directly in Bitcoin.
This move by the bank has made it the first major financial institution in Brazil to offer direct exposure to Bitcoin.
While the platform, called MYNT, allows users to buy Bitcoin, the managers gave explanations.
Roberto Sallouti, CEO of BTG Pactual, told Cointelegraph that high demand from clients was instrumental in creating the MYNT platform.
Noting that MYNT is not just a trading platform, the CEO said, “As a new asset class, we will also have content like educating and informing our clients about these assets and technologies.” said.
Andre Porthilo, BTG Pactual’s head of digital assets, also assessed the bank’s move. Underlining that they are a licensed bank regulated by the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission and the Central Bank, Porthilo stated that these moves will add credibility to the growing Bitcoin and cryptocurrency sector in the country.
